BPU Denies JCP&L Transmission Project

Congratulations to Monmouth County citizen group RAGE - Residents Against Giant Electric!

On Friday, June 22, 2018, the Commissioners of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities voted unanimously to adopt an administrative law judge's decision and denied JCP&L's petition for the 10-mile long 230kV transmission line proposal ("Monmouth County Reliability Project").

The proposal is for a 3rd redundant transmission line (they already have a main and a backup transmission line) and is the third time that JCP&L attempted this proposal. Calling the proposal "untried and untested and likely infeasible," ALJ Gail Cookson ruled, in March 2018, that JCP&L had not proved the project is necessary.

After two years opposition, many residents in Monmouth County are breathing a great sigh of relief.
